Courtney and Mark

What a wonderful wedding Courtney and Mark had!

You know you mean to a lot to folks when friends and family show up to your wedding the weekend of thanksgiving. That's what exactly happened at Courtney and Mark's wedding. Their families and friends came from all over and celebrated with them.

The wedding was held last November 25. Thanksgiving weekend. Football weekend. Clemson vs. South Carolina rivalry game.

Well... this event was better.

Courtney and the girls got ready at the church in West Ashley and we did some pre-wedding pictures outside. We were going to do them all outside until a friend said that Mark is on his way. OMG!!! Courtney ran to the church and hid. Yep. She ran with her wedding dress.

The reception was held at the Seabrook Country Club.

The first time I met Courtney, I was mezmerized by her beauty and fun personality. She's the type of woman that just lights up the room or makes her own sunshine on cloudy days. I was hooked and knew that she was going to be a fun bride to work with.

Mark is an amazing guy with great dreams and great life ahead of him with Courtney. I am very happy for them and wish them the best.

I truly enjoyed working this wedding. There were so many wonderful people that I met, including Mark's family from up north.

I will forever be grateful for the trust Courtney and her mother had in me to capture their day. I am sad that I won't get to see them much now that the whole wedding planning is over. But hopefully, I'll see them in the future for some baby pictures :) .

Stacey Rogers

Hi. It's 11:23 pm and I am taking a little break from my pre-wedding preparation and checks. Tomorrow is a very special day. Tomorrow is Stacey and Neil's wedding in Walterboro, South Carolina.

I am very excited and have been looking forward to this day since the day I met Stacey and Neil. I will post more pictures of them after a couple of weeks.

Since there's less than 24 hours before they actually get married, i think it is pretty safe to post Stacey's bridal portraits on this blog. I am very proud of Stacey because Stacey is very shy. During the bridal session, Stacey was able to grow. She was able to hide her shyness and allow her natural beauty to emerge.

We started around 3 pm at the Colonial Historic Site. Stacey's mom helped us a lot! Thanks Jan!

We did some warm up shots to get a feel of the lighting and then off we went. Stacey was a pro! I couldn't be more proud of her.
It was such a wonderful experience working with Stacey. Her down-to-earth attitude was very inspiring. And that dress... man, she looked stunning.

It was a privilege to be chosen by Stacey. We finished the session a little after 5 pm after a few shots in front of the brick toward.

Becky and Morris

Hello everyone,

A couple of weeks ago, I shot Becky and Morris' engagement portraits. I had such a wonderful time working with them! We started the session at the Sunset Park in James Island, overlooking the Arthur Ravenel Bridge and the Ashley River. Becky and Morris had never been there before, so I thought it would be a nice place to do some shots.

We then proceeded to Morris Island in Folly Beach. My favorite place.

We had such a blast. The weather cooperated very well. It was 75 degrees and sunny with clouds. The water was a little cold but it was a piece of cake to Becky and Morris.

I was having such a blast, I forgot that that its been 3 hours. We called it a day before dark and walked back to our cars and separated ways :(

Not too sad, though. I know I'll see these wonderful people again.

They were sooo great to work with. The love and devotion they had for each other radiated through out the session. They truly give meaning to my work. I am very inspired by them. They move and motivate me.

I am very thankful that Becky chose me as her photographer. I cannot wait until their wedding day.

Ginny & Frankie

It is 8:45pm and I cannot help but to think and appreciate how lucky I am to be able to do what I am very passionate about. Everyday, probably every corner on earth, there's a ton of people who do not like their jobs and are not too fond of the decisions that they had made or what they have become.

I love every minute of my life and every fiber of what I do. I am surrounded by happy people all the time. How cool is that! I am surrounded by people who love and adore each other (most of the time). That's hard to compare my everyday experience and motivation to any job.

Let's take Ginny and Frankie, for example. I enjoyed working with these two during their engagement portrait session. We did the session at the Steamboat Landing in Edisto Island, where they are both from and grew up. The whole experience was amazing! The location was at the end of a dirt road, where you see nothing but trees for a couple of miles and then woala! You see the Edisto River, the marsh, the blue heron sitting on the banks. It was so peaceful that it was depthening.

And then there's Ginny, her fine self. Ginny was awesome to work with. Poor thing she was a little cold (and I was too, but I didn't tell her that!). And Frankie... he was the epitome of a cool and smooth operator. Did I spell epitome right? However the heck the word is spelled, Frankie is on the top of my cool guy lists.

We ended the session shortly before Sunset and I headed back to Summerville. Ok, so I posted too much info I think. I am going to work on Becca's engagement and Courtney's wedding next.

So, check out Ginny and Frankie's slideshow. Click here

'til next time...

The Faces of Rosalina

Very recently, I just wrapped up a two week long shoot with a few children for "The Faces of Rosalina" marketing campaign for Rosalina Inc. (www.rosalinababy.com) at the beautiful Colonial Dorchester Historic Site in Summerville, one of my favorite parks.

The whole experience was awesome and hysterical. I had an assitant help me prepare the children for every outfit.

The weather was great. We timed all of the shoot in the mornings and when it was still nice and cool, but not too cold.

Due to children's attention span at that age, I had a time limit for each child- 3 outfits or 30 minutes, whichever comes first. After that, they get a little grouchy. The children were fun and hilarious! I believe children are the most honest, care-free human beings. How do they get to be so care-free? No worries. Hakunah-metata (Did I spell that correctly?).

I was exhausted, I must admit, at the end of each shoot. It was worth it. I enjoyed it very much. The pix turned out great too. I can't take all of the credit. I have to give credit to all of the mothers that drove their child to the venue and helped dressed them.

The moms rock! They were fantastic! They certainly made my job easier.

Kelly & Jamy

It is Monday evening and I am on my second to my last leg of editing before a big wedding this coming weekend at Seabrook Island. I just finished Kelly and Jamy's engagement portraits.

Kelly and Jamy were amazing to work with. We went to one of my favorite beaches in Charleston, Folly Beach, to do the engagement portrait session. It was a great day overall. The sun was in and out, but since I started shooting around 3:30ish, the sun was very subtle. It was a little chilly, though, and windy. I was worried that Kelly would not be able to handle it, BUT I was very impressed on how Kelly stepped up and took the challenge and handled the coldness like a champ. She's such a good sport. Thanks Kelly!

Jamy was amazing also. He did everything I asked him to do with grace. Thanks Jamy! You're the man!

Really, I enjoyed working with these two. They were fantastic. Kelly was beautiful. I can't wait to photograph her in her dress. And Jamy, what a guy! I couldn't ask for a better couple to work with. They looked great together.

So, it is 10:26 pm and I am signing off to get some sleep. Till next time... in the meantime, have a look at the slideshow. Click Here

Tiffany and Abel

It is 12:53 AM and I'm a little sleepy. I just finished editing Tiffany and Abel's engagement session. All I can say is WOW! What a couple. The session was awesome. We did the portrait session at the Stern Center, at the College of Charleston. Really really cool place to hang out, take pictures. We finished up on East Bay, at one of my favorite alleys of Charleston. Man, I had such a great time. They were so cooperative and patient with me. I was beginning to think that they like the camera. I love Tiffany and Abel. They are so fun to work with. I can't wait 'til wedding day.

Alright, it is almost 1 AM and I really have to go to bed. So, check out the show- click here

Layna and Darren

When I first met Layna and Darren, I knew there was something special about this couple. Their commitment to each other and their love were very visible.

The ceremony was at Alhambra Hall, under the Oak Tree. The reception was held in the hall. The whole celebration was wonderful despite of the fact that it poured for an hour.

Needless to say, the couple were stressed out before the ceremony. Poor thing.

The ceremony was moved inside. The rain stopped pouring and the sun came out, luckily, just in time for the formals of the wedding party. Whew!

I was sweating bullets. There was not a place indoor (not pretty enough) to do the formals. I was soooooo glad the rain stopped pouring.

The nats came out of nowhere and started flying all over, but I didn't care. I stayed focused and finished the job.

Aaahhh... 15 minutes with the wedding party and 12 minutes with Layna and Darren and we were off to the Hall.

Layna and Darren held it together that day. No adversity could have stopped them that day. No rain or bad weather could have got them down. It was their wedding day and dammit they were going to get married.

I love that! My commitment to this industry and profession is renewed whenever I see such commitment and devotion.

Enough chat from me. Check out the show...

PS-- I give Stacey Fraunfelter, from Red Letter Events, a two thumbs up on this wedding. I've never seen a wedding planner so devoted and so committed to her work. Stacey was an amazing, hardworking woman. If you are planning a wedding, you would want Stacey on your side.

My picture

I am still trying to figure out how this whole blogging thing work. There is still so much to learn like how do I post my own picture. The instructions said post a blog with your picture it etc... so here it is.

Meredith and Troy

Ok, I just finished editing Meredith and Troy's wedding. After a total cumulative hours of 40, I am done. Finito. Whew! What a couple! The wedding turned out perfect! The weather was great. The ceremony was very solemn. And the reception... man oh man, that was fun. I enjoyed working with Meredith and Troy. Their entire friends and family were fantastic. I enjoyed talking and meeting everyone.

Weddings like Meredith and Troy's inspire me to keep going. There was just so much love and commitment in their relationship. I feel fortunate that I played a small role in documenting their special day.

My first post

Hello. Thanks for stopping by. I have wanted to start-up a blog to share my passion for documentary photography and the art and business that surrounds it with whoever's willing to listen.

I am finalizing the wedding photographs of Latoya and Jason. I should be posting a slideshow showing some highlights of the day.

I am getting ready to start editing Meredith and Troy's wedding and Layna and Darren's.

October has been a crazy month. Three weddings, three engagement portrait sessions, 3 bridal portrait session. Yup, I should be spending time in front of my Mac pro during the next couple of weeks.
