Ok so it is technically the day after my birthday. Whew! I used to wish birthdays should be weeks long. Now that I crossed the "30" barrier, I wish birthdays are an hour long and be done with it ;)

At any rate, let me tell you about Marie and Scott.

We spent some time at Middleton Plantation a few weeks ago to do their esession. Hanging out with Marie and Scott was such an amazing experience. They are so in love with each other and I could feel, see and sense all that throughout. I truly enjoyed being around them. In many different ways, they move me.

I'm back from Tampa (well, almost, I'm in Atlanta now). I had the pleasure and privilege to hang with the best photographers in the universe.

Modern day photography is not just about light and art, it is also about learning, exploring and finding your light. My goal is to give my clients what they truly deserve therefore , every year I commit myself to explore new avenues. Every year, I want to be rejuvenated. I want to be reinvented. I want to be renewed. Tampa was the place to do so.

Happy New Year

Alright so I haven't posted a while. The last 2 weeks, I've christmas shopped, ordered the crib for the baby and, some bedding stuff, entertained family, put in hardwood floors at the house, paint parts of the house and worked on the nursery. We are trying to get the house ready for Jacob's arrival. So, needless to say I've been sort of consumed with family stuff. And oh, we decided on a name for our baby boy- Jacob Alexander Bunao. My late-grandfather's name was Alejandro. We thought we add that on their to put a nice ring and history to his name.

So yes, we're pretty excited. This week, I will work on the baby room some more and then off to Tampa for the Professional Photographer's convention.

I will also be working on and posting some sessions that I've done before the holidays.

A lot of things happen to me, my family, my business in 2007. I have been truly blessed by my amazing clients this past year. I am very thankful for their trust in my abilities and forever be indebted for allowing me document their wedding. My clients inspire and move me in many different ways I can't even explain. It is them that allow me to realize and live my dream. To all my clients- thank you from the bottom of my heart. May you all be blessed with happiness and bliss.

And to my wonderful, beautiful, supportive and fantastic wife, Courtney, thank you, for everything. You are my world. And thank you for carrying my son ;)

Mary Walker and Matt

Tonight before I hit the sack, I want to tell you about Mary Walker (MW) and Matt.

The best part of life is love. With MW and Matt I could feel nothing but love. They are two amazing couple that you could tell will be together 'til the end of time. We went to my favorite beach spot- Folly Beach - and spent some time taking photos under the pier and eventually a miles down near the Morris Island lighthouse. The weather was absolutely perfect. MW and Matt have never been to this spot before so it was quite a treat and exciting to hang out with them. The Morris Island lighthouse certainly added a touch of romanticism to our little e-session.

Wedding: Natalie and John

Nov. 2 is a monumental day to Natalie and John. This is the day they both committed their lives to each other- forever. It was a beautiful day at Alhambra Hall. Natalie looked absolutely stunning. John looked fantastic.

Three weeks ago Lindsay and Brian tied the knot in Round O, South Carolina. While I'm still working on their wedding images, here are some pictures of her from her bridal session. I was not able to post these before the wedding day because we wanted to keep it as a surprise.

We did the shoot indoors, at a friends house in Pine Forest. The pictures turned out awesome! Lindsay is a fantastic woman. I enjoyed working with her dearly, as well as with her mother Beth and Step mom Mary. I'll keep you updated on their wedding pictures.

Business: New Boutique Studio

To follow up on some more blessings that we have been experiencing, on October 25, we held the grand opening party of our new boutique studio. CVI Photography & Co. is no longer based out of our home. CVI has a new headquarters. CVI has a new home located at the heart of downtown Summerville.

What is a boutique studio? A boutique studio is a modern place of meeting clients and showing them the modern services and contemporary products that we offer. Our studio as you will see below is loaded with different modern furniture to create the total feel of our services, personality and style. The studio gives every client a very good idea what to expect from us- modern, fun, unconventional and a total customer-focused service.

After a 3 year seach for the "perfect place,"I fell in love with the location back in July. It is located at a place becoming to be an art district of Summerville. It is a short drive from my house. This 823 sq. ft boutique studio is very hip and contemporary that brings a totally different and unconventional ambiance to today's modern day photography market.

The boutique studio is easily accessible and has ample of parking. It is only a 30 minute drive from Charleston and surrounding areas. To better accommodate our client's schedule, the studio is a "By Appointment" only studio, which means we can meet you whenever you're available. And yes, we can meet you even in the evenings and/or weekends.

We are very blessed to have such an opportunity to have such a wonderful place. It took a lot planning and conceptualizing and hard labor, lots of late nights, but in the end everything is worthwhile. Ultimately, it is all about serving our clients better and giving them what they truly deserve.

Bathrooms... you gotta have a nice bathroom. I am not too fond of going to a small business retail using the bathrooms as STORAGE! or JUNK ROOM! Bathrooms are where people go when they need to go. It is a fundamental way of additional advertising. It is another place to brag about what you can offer. We wanted to make sure we make our bathroom nice and pleasant.

I would like to thank all of the people that celebrated with us at the grand opening party and all of the people that called, emailed and sent goodies. Life is truly an amazing experience. I am very grateful to be your friend and have all of your support and prayers.

Special thanks and kudos to my mentor, teacher and dear friend, Scott Henderson for randomly picking up his camera to take some photos of the event and the people we celebrated with. Personal: Life is beautiful

There's so many exciting things lately at CVI that I need to write and brag about. Nothing tops this one.

July 18 (or right around that date) Courtney (my wife) and I anxiously went to the drug store to purchase a pregnancy test. Yep, we were trying to get pregnant. We decided that we were going to try in Hawaii while vacationing.

When we returned back to the house, Courtney did the test. Because we were so anxious, neither really of us at first wanted to look at the result from the test thingy . Courtney volunteered me to do it. I was clueless what to look for. Back in the day, they had some code. Blue means yes, and red or yellow or some color means no. Well, by reading the instructions I learned to just look for the word "Pregnant".

So I went. And the blue pregancy test thingy simply read, "Pregnant".

Lord and behold, WE ARE PREGNANT. Woodaloooo!!!! We were jumping with joy and some tears when we saw the result. And so we took some pictures of our mini-celebration dance and act. Ivory (our pal) even got excited about the news.

Here are some pix from that night.

There are so many things to blog about, but I wanted to share this with you. I am going to be a father. And tomorrow I will meet with my child. We go to our Ultrasound appointment and see some pictures of the baby inside Courtney's womb. I am very excited. Nothing excites me more this week than tomorrow's appointment because we will discover the gender of our baby. Wow!

Some people say we are lucky. I believe we are blessed. I don't consider myself lucky. I see myself as blessed.

Life is beautiful. What do you have to be depressed about?

Business: Thryn and Gabe

This week, I'll take you wonderful people to Thryn and Gabe's September 8, 2007 wedding in Augusta, Georgia.

I met Thryn and Gabe almost a year ago after a long search for a photographer. They both live in Baltimore and decided to tie the knot in Augusta. Friends and family came from all over to witness this amazing wedding.

I've never done an eco-friendly wedding before. Thryn and Gabe have done an amazing job designing, planning and implementing everything. Thryn and Gabe are certainly one of the most talented and creative people I've ever met. Check out Thryn's blog to see more of what their wedding entailed.

I feel so blessed to be a part of Thryn and Gabe's special day. I met so many wonderful people at this wedding that it made me sad thinking that the likelihood of seeing all of these nice folks again is very slim and that the fun memories of this wedding celebration will only be "a memory". Hopefully the pictures will help me relive the good times.

A billion thanks to Thryn and Gabe for the opportunity to document their wedding. I had loads of fun. Thanks to Thryn and Gabe's wedding party. You all are certainly one of the most fun, entertaining, creative, animated and witty wedding party ever! The pictures made me smile and laugh during the post production process. I could remember everything vividly through these images how you guys cracked me up!

Summerville- I just wrapped up Rosalina's Spring and Summer catalog 2008.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the company, Rosalina Inc. is the biggest designer and distributor of children's smocked and heirloom apparel, specializing in children's smocked clothing and other heirloom gift items.

During the past couple of weeks, I have had the priviledge to work with a few, up and coming models. Working with children is always an exciting venture mainly because we never know what to expect. Children are the most honest human being in the world. They give honest answers, laughters, smiles and tears.

It is a wonderful and inspiring feeling photographing children.

Krista and Adrian- A Month After

A month after Krista and Adrian said their vows to each other, we did "A Month After" session where we hung out at Isle of Palms near the Citadel Beach House and took some amazing photos.

Krista and Adrian were amazing to work with. Adrian would probably not admit it, I think he had a fabulous time, especially seeing his beautiful wife rolling around the sand, looking happy and fabulous.

I truly had a wonderful time. Krista and Adrian are amazing folks and it was such a priviledge working with them. The shoot lasted a couple of hours. We almost cancelled because of a storm that was coming in to Charleston. If you remember, Krista and Adrian got married during the tropical storm Barry. There was no cancelling this session, though. We would have done it anyway even if it rained.

E-session: Natalie and John

We decided to do Natalie and John's e-session in Summerville. The rain sort of delayed us from our scheduled shoot, however, it was a blessing in disguise. I got to hang out with Natalie and John at the local pub (Mcguire's) and really got to know them a bit. We were on the verge of rescheduling due to the heavy rain, but a couple of budlights and cosmos later, the rain stopped. So off we went to historic Summerville make some cool, very artistic pictures of Natalie and John. I really enjoyed working with Natalie and John. It was truly a pleasure photographing such wonderful folks. I can't wait until their wedding day this fall. Check them out...

Casey and Stuart

Charleston, SC- It is 12:48 AM according to the clock on my computer. I just wrapped up Casey and Stuart's Trash The Dress Session, or should I say "3 years later" session.

Stuart and Casey have been married 3 years. They were intrigued by the idea of a "Trash The Dress (TTD)" Session. So we gave it a shot during one hot day in June. We ventured to the heart of Charleston where we got the chance to hang out at Rue de Jean and had a Mojito. (Whisper) I figured to buy them a drink to get them going and to get relaxed. We shot within the vicinity of this beautiful restaurant and then finished up at Morris Island.

My TTD session with Casey and Stuart was absolute blast. No worries. No reception to go to. And yes, Casey and Stuart when in the water and no, Casey's dress did not get ruined; just got sandy and wet.

I'm starting to see doubles. I need some sleep. I will let the pictures and the slideshow do the story-telling.

Tiffany and Abel

So after 80 late, cummulative hours (excluding bathroom and snack
breaks and sleep) during a 4-week period, I finished Tiffany and Abel's
rehearsal and wedding pictures. Every minute of working with them and
editing was truly fulfilling because I was to able to relive how much
fun I had working with Tiffany and Abel, their family and friends.
Everyone was from all over and they all came to Charleston to celebrate
this amazing wedding of Tiffany and Abel. The ceremony was held at Holy Cross Episcopal Church in Sullivan's Island and the reception was held at the Maritime Center.

The whole group were definitely were such wonderful people; full of zest and enthusiasm about life, itself. I am truly blessed to know everyone and i am very grateful that I was invited to play a role to document this special day. Best of luck to Tiffany and Abel.

Collide

Lauren and Rob committed their life to each other at Lowndes Grove Plantation, near the Ashely River, in Charleston, South Carolina, shortly before the sunset. They were joined by many family and friends on a chilly, Easter weekend.

The wedding was absolutely amazing. Lauren and her mother (and her father too) did a fantastic job planning and choosing every little detail. From the tulips on the table to the bubbles and cake and band, everything just came together.

I thought one of Lauren's relatives was fabulous when she sang "Greatest Love of All" Whitney Houston style. That was definitely one of the highlights of the night.

We ended the night shortly after nine pm when Lauren and Rob rushed out to be greeted with bubbles by their family and friends, waving them farewell to Bora Bora.

On a beautiful day in Edisto Island on March 31, Ginny and Frankie committed themselves to each other. The ceremony was held at a very beautiful, newly renovated historic Presbyterian church. The reception was held shortly before sunset, near the river in Middleton Plantation in Edisto Island.
I enjoyed documenting the entire event. Ginny and her mother did a fantastic job planning every detail. The reception was very beautiful. Ginny was absolutely gorgeous. And Frankie was very handsome.
We ended the night around 10:30 and began our 1-hr long drive back to the 'Ville.

Tamara's Bridal Portrait

Bridal sessions are cool. It is like a dress rehearsal or something where the bride can try the dress, different hairstyles, fit the shoes. I love it. It's big in the South. Here's Tamara's bridal portrait. This was taken during a beautiful day in February. Can you believe that? Actually it was kind of cloudy and chilly but Tamara was a good sport.
Did the dress get dirty? Absolutely. But she got it cleaned in time for the wedding.

Tamara and Michael's wedding was just a couple of weeks ago and I just found out that they are pregnant. Wow! That's so awesome.
I enjoyed documenting Tamara and Michael's wedding. They have great friends and family who love them dearly. I think that's so important in a marriage. These two definitely have a great start in their marriage.
Their zest for life and love, care and passion for each other inspire me and give true meaning to my work. I will miss working with them.

Can I tell you how much fun I had working with Leigh Ann and Ross?

Working with Leigh Ann and Ross was truly one of the most amazing experience in my life. I love the fact that they are so fun and care-free, not to mention madly in love with each other. When people are madly in love, poses flow so smoothly. There was not a dull moment when I photographed Leigh Ann and Ross.

I knew that there was something special about these two when I first met them.

Wedding date: 07/07/07. Wow.

Nikki and Bryce

Recently, one of my friends, Bryce got married to his beautiful wife, Nikki. Finally. Whew! I was starting to worry about him, but anyway, it was one of the most magical weddings I have ever been a part of.
They are both Vietnamese who grew up here in the State-side, so they celebrated their wedding with a flare of traditional Vietnamese and American celebration.
We started at 9 am at his house. All 12 of us brought gifts to Nikki's house at around 10 am, where we were received by 12 beautiful young women consisting of Nikki's friends, sisters and relatives. They were all wearing these gorgeous traditional Vietnamese dresses.
We ate some Vietnamese food after that ceremony and proceeded to the church at 1pm.
The ceremony was just like a fairy tale. It was a catholic ceremony in Vietnamse. It was very solemn and very beautiful. I caught some good shots and even when Bryce was catching a tear, or should I say when Bryce cried.
The wonderful reception was held afterwards with 500 invited guests, where we chowed Vietnamese and Chinese cousine and listened to a very entertaining Vietnamese band and drank Heneiken beer till midnight. Here are some pictures from the ceremony.

Deneene and TC

I worked with Deneene and TC a few weeks ago before the holidays. They are truly one of the most amazing people I have ever met in my life. Deneene has this sparkly personality that just lights up every room she walks in, which compliments TC's calm, cool and laid back character.

I tell you, these two will make it for a very very very long time.

I admire Deneene and TC greatly. I adore their love and respect for each other.

I wish them the best of luck and excitement during the next few weeks and months of planning their big wedding. I am thankful that I get to play a small part of their special day.

"Who says I work too much?"

Courtney and I took some time off in Edisto Island during the holidays with a couple of good friends, Ryan and Susan and Seth and Loralyn.

We didn't do much except ride bikes for a couple of hours, ate, drank some and watched Texas Chainsaw Massacre. And oh, we walked on the beach and had coffee at 8:30 am.

We fired up some wood during the night and talked politics, told jokes and drunken stories. Or should I say, they told drunken stories while I just sat and enjoyed the fire. :)

All in all, the vacation was nothing but peaceful. Ahhh... maybe we'll go back this spring. Just maybe. We'll see...

Stacey and Neil

Alright, so I promised you I was going to share Stacey and Neil's wedding photographs. We met last year and somehow with a little luck and charm, they cancelled all of their appointments with other photographers and commissioned me. I can't help but to appreciate these two for being such an awesome client and friends. One of the things that I love about being a wedding photographer, besides going to parties every weekend, is that I meet strangers which I later find the most wonderful people in the world.

The drawback to that is that I miss the people I meet and become friends with after the wedding and all obligations are settled. It is truly sad to think that I will not talk to Stacey and Neil again.

Hopefully that will not be the case with Stacey and Neil and other couples that I worked with.

The goal is actually not just be their wedding photographer. The objective is to have the privilege once again to photograph Stacey for her maternity pictures (yikes), their children and their children's children. Hopefully, I'm still around when that time comes.

At any rate, Stacey and Neil's wedding was truly magical. Everything just came together perfectly. Their friends and family were so adorable and fun. It was such a blessing to have everyone come together and celebrate the wedding of Stacey and Neil.

The wedding was held at the Bethel Presbyterian Church in Walterboro. The reception followed at the Dogwood Country Club.

I very much enjoyed documenting the entire event. I loved working with Stacey and Neil's friends. They were so nice and fun to photograph. The party was awesome... and the band was just as fantastic.

I think my favorite part of it all is when Neil sang to Stacey. Man, Neil, you can sing brother!

I really enjoyed there wedding that I wish it was Stacey's wedding every weekend and that i was there photographer!

Back in Business

Ok so, I've had some problems posting on my blog lately. Holiday orders, holiday shopping and obligations, 2 weddings and 2 engagements and a week long trip to Louisiana got the best of me. So... Happy New Year to everyone. My greeting's a little late, but better late than never.

I met Elizabeth and Steve a few months ago. We scheduled their engagement session in mid december and we decided to go for a look that represent Charleston. So, we went on East Bay St. and took some shots there and proceeded to the beach to finish up.

It was truly truly truly a joy working with Steve and Elizabeth. They were such good sport that I didn't notice a couple of hours had gone by. I cannot thank them enough for giving me the opportunity to cover their wedding. I wish them the best during the next few weeks and months planning their wedding day. I cannot wait 'til June.

Courtney and Mark

What a wonderful wedding Courtney and Mark had!

You know you mean to a lot to folks when friends and family show up to your wedding the weekend of thanksgiving. That's what exactly happened at Courtney and Mark's wedding. Their families and friends came from all over and celebrated with them.

The wedding was held last November 25. Thanksgiving weekend. Football weekend. Clemson vs. South Carolina rivalry game.

Well... this event was better.

Courtney and the girls got ready at the church in West Ashley and we did some pre-wedding pictures outside. We were going to do them all outside until a friend said that Mark is on his way. OMG!!! Courtney ran to the church and hid. Yep. She ran with her wedding dress.

The reception was held at the Seabrook Country Club.

The first time I met Courtney, I was mezmerized by her beauty and fun personality. She's the type of woman that just lights up the room or makes her own sunshine on cloudy days. I was hooked and knew that she was going to be a fun bride to work with.

Mark is an amazing guy with great dreams and great life ahead of him with Courtney. I am very happy for them and wish them the best.

I truly enjoyed working this wedding. There were so many wonderful people that I met, including Mark's family from up north.

I will forever be grateful for the trust Courtney and her mother had in me to capture their day. I am sad that I won't get to see them much now that the whole wedding planning is over. But hopefully, I'll see them in the future for some baby pictures :) .

Stacey Rogers

Hi. It's 11:23 pm and I am taking a little break from my pre-wedding preparation and checks. Tomorrow is a very special day. Tomorrow is Stacey and Neil's wedding in Walterboro, South Carolina.

I am very excited and have been looking forward to this day since the day I met Stacey and Neil. I will post more pictures of them after a couple of weeks.

Since there's less than 24 hours before they actually get married, i think it is pretty safe to post Stacey's bridal portraits on this blog. I am very proud of Stacey because Stacey is very shy. During the bridal session, Stacey was able to grow. She was able to hide her shyness and allow her natural beauty to emerge.

We started around 3 pm at the Colonial Historic Site. Stacey's mom helped us a lot! Thanks Jan!

We did some warm up shots to get a feel of the lighting and then off we went. Stacey was a pro! I couldn't be more proud of her.
It was such a wonderful experience working with Stacey. Her down-to-earth attitude was very inspiring. And that dress... man, she looked stunning.

It was a privilege to be chosen by Stacey. We finished the session a little after 5 pm after a few shots in front of the brick toward.

Becky and Morris

Hello everyone,

A couple of weeks ago, I shot Becky and Morris' engagement portraits. I had such a wonderful time working with them! We started the session at the Sunset Park in James Island, overlooking the Arthur Ravenel Bridge and the Ashley River. Becky and Morris had never been there before, so I thought it would be a nice place to do some shots.

We then proceeded to Morris Island in Folly Beach. My favorite place.

We had such a blast. The weather cooperated very well. It was 75 degrees and sunny with clouds. The water was a little cold but it was a piece of cake to Becky and Morris.

I was having such a blast, I forgot that that its been 3 hours. We called it a day before dark and walked back to our cars and separated ways :(

Not too sad, though. I know I'll see these wonderful people again.

They were sooo great to work with. The love and devotion they had for each other radiated through out the session. They truly give meaning to my work. I am very inspired by them. They move and motivate me.

I am very thankful that Becky chose me as her photographer. I cannot wait until their wedding day.

I love every minute of my life and every fiber of what I do. I am surrounded by happy people all the time. How cool is that! I am surrounded by people who love and adore each other (most of the time). That's hard to compare my everyday experience and motivation to any job.

Let's take Ginny and Frankie, for example. I enjoyed working with these two during their engagement portrait session. We did the session at the Steamboat Landing in Edisto Island, where they are both from and grew up. The whole experience was amazing! The location was at the end of a dirt road, where you see nothing but trees for a couple of miles and then woala! You see the Edisto River, the marsh, the blue heron sitting on the banks. It was so peaceful that it was depthening.

And then there's Ginny, her fine self. Ginny was awesome to work with. Poor thing she was a little cold (and I was too, but I didn't tell her that!). And Frankie... he was the epitome of a cool and smooth operator. Did I spell epitome right? However the heck the word is spelled, Frankie is on the top of my cool guy lists.

We ended the session shortly before Sunset and I headed back to Summerville. Ok, so I posted too much info I think. I am going to work on Becca's engagement and Courtney's wedding next.
